From Sundown to Sunrise

Set in Atlanta in 1987, From Sundown to Sunrise follows the Scott family as long-buried truths connect them to the 1912 racial expulsion of Black residents from Forsyth County, Georgia. When a family deed and painful memories reveal a history of racial terror, stolen land, and enforced silence, three generations must decide whether to leave the past buried or confront it publicly.

Blending family drama, history, humor, and hope, the play explores the power of truth-telling, ancestral memory, and the courageous journey from darkness into light.

Trenton played Dr. Daniel Paul in the play’s dramatic staged reading at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival — a format that puts the work in front of an audience while the creative team is still shaping it, and introduces the story and its cast to people who might carry it beyond the festival.

Written by Dr. Janice Liddell and directed by Byron C. Saunders for Third Eye Productions, an independent arts LLC founded by Dr. Liddell to create and present theatre, literary and edutainment work illuminating African American history, culture, and contemporary life.
